The South River Public Library is accepting resumes for the position of Library Director.
Located in the Borough of South River, with approximately 16,000 residents, serving a diverse community with many cultures and a rich history, the South River Public Library is seeking a strong leader familiar with current trends in library service and a willingness explore new and innovative services based on the changing needs of the community.
The successful candidate will have the following experience and credentials:
- Demonstrated leadership through supervisory, scheduling, and other personnel management experience including interviewing, hiring, and staff evaluation.
- Budgeting and management of library funds. Grant writing experience is a plus.
- Participation in consortium, regional, statewide and national library organizations such as committees, elected positions, conference attendance and presentations.
- Community outreach and engagement, including schools, community organizations, and state, county and local government agencies. Participation in community wide events is required.
- Familiarity with completing required monthly and annual statistical reports and audits.
- Familiarity with building infrastructure, computer networks and general building maintenance as well as the ability to work with contractors and public works to maintain the library.
- Familiar with New Jersey Library Laws and Statutes and how they apply to a municipal library.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a Boards of Trustees and elected officials.
- 10 years successful work experience in a public library with 3+ years in supervisory capacity.
- ALA accredited MLS and a NJ Librarians Certificate
