The East Orange Public Library seeks an enthusiastic part-time reference librarian with strong customer service skills and hands-on experience with computer technology and electronic resources. Candidates must have an MLS from or be currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited program.
Duties may include the following:
- Assist patrons in discovering and locating library materials/resources in a variety of formats
- Respond to questions from the public via phone, in-person, and online inquiries
- Aid patrons in the use of the online catalog and other library digital resources
- Provide technology assistance, including public computers, cell phones, tablets, laptops, printing, and other computer software programs
- Monitor activity in the Reference area
- Enforce library rules of conduct and policies with patrons
- Provide reader advisory
- Make recommendations for the ongoing collection development process
- Develop and implement stand-alone and/or on-going programs
- Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Perform other tasks as assigned
MLS students may be considered Hours: 19 hours per week, including some evening and daytime hours and possibly every Saturday. Must be flexible.
