Adult Services Librarian Full-time

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic full-time librarian to join its Adult Services team. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, have outstanding communication skills, proven strong programming capabilities, technology skills and the ability to answer a variety of reference questions.

The Adult Services Librarian will work closely with the Head of Adult Services to ensure a continued increase in programming and outreach to target audiences and expand the library’s presence in the community. This position will identify community needs, cultivate relationships with local organizations, attend community events as a library representative, schedule outside performers, and host dynamic internal programs.  

Position Requirements:

  • Make connections with local organizations and attend outreach events
  • Develop and conduct programming based on the interest of the Moorestown adult community
  • Host technology classes and one-on-one tech appointments 
  • Represent the library at community events
  • Assist with collection development

General Public Requirements:

  • Provide friendly, competent reference and online readers’ advisory service to all library customers 
  • Assist with online resources and other digital resources
  • Perform computer basic and printer trouble shooting
  • Ensure public service areas are kept neat and appealing 

Professional Requirements:

  • Participate in staff training and continuing education seminars or courses
  • Provide input into determining department goals and objectives
  • Acts as person-in-charge on weekends and evenings if a manager is not present

The Moorestown Library is a forward-thinking library serving a population of over 21,000. Located in Burlington County, New Jersey, Moorestown is a vibrant community with historic charm that has often been recognized as one of the best places to live in New Jersey.

Hours: 35 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and partial shifts at off-site events. 

Required qualifications: Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program. 

Applicants currently pursuing a degree in library science in an ALA-accredited program may apply. If selected, the candidate will be hired in a library associate title.

One to two years experience in a public library setting required.

Preferred qualifications: Previous adult programming experience is a plus. Spanish fluency is desired but not required. 

Compensation Range: $45,000-$60,000 depending on experience.

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
