The Little Falls Public Library is seeking a friendly, outgoing, customer service-oriented person to join our staff as the Information and Technical Services Adult Librarian. The person in this position will help our patrons through outreach efforts, public programming, reference, technology help, and reader’s advisory.

Description and Duties:

The Information and Technical Services Adult Librarian oversees all collection development for adult eBooks, audiobooks, adult fiction and non-fiction material. The Library has a strong readership in popular fiction; the person in this position develops and maintains the Library’s fiction and nonfiction collection through acquisitions and weeding.

Our Information and Technical Services Adult Librarian will have the responsibility for creating and maintaining current records in the Integrated Library System (ILS) catalog according to PALS Plus criteria and interlibrary Loan (ILL/Jersey Cat) services, along with related tasks. This position also provides informational library services to patrons in-person, by phone, and email. This person will also develop and instruct computer class programs in person as well as one-on-one assistance with the help of another staff member.

Adult programing in our library is becoming popular and we would like to see this aspect of the library continue to grow. This potential candidate plans, helps to promote, and presents all adult library activities and programs while maintaining program statistics throughout the year. They will also be responsible for purchasing all materials for adult activities within budget.

Public library experience and supervisory experience are preferred. Knowledge of Sirsi Dynix and Baker & Taylor 360 is a plus.

Requirements:

An ALA accredited Master’s Degree of Library/Information Science and NJ Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by Thomas Edison State College.

Three years (full time equivalent) of professional librarian experience with supervisory experience. 

This is a full-time salary position, 35 hours per week that requires two evening shifts a week along with one Saturday a month. The position includes health benefits, pension, paid sick and vacation time.  Salary is set at $51,000.
