Title: Librarian 1, Full-time 
Salary: $55,565

DESCRIPTION 
The Children’s Services Department at the County Library seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic, service-oriented, and self-motivated librarian to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service ethos and demonstrate knowledge of print and online resources, readers’ advisory, and solid technology skills. The individual must exhibit strong communication skills, provide services to children, teens, caregivers and families, and a desire to do community outreach. 

Other examples of duties: 

  • Design and implement creative youth programming to facilitate a love of reading and learning, including storytimes for children ages six years and younger, as well as crafts and other activities for children of all ages.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, reference, and readers’ advisory to all library customers. 
  • Assist with collection maintenance tasks, including evaluating materials and collection development. 
  • Develop partnerships and implement outreach efforts in coordination with organizations serving the youth population. 
  • Offer youth-focused programs at community host sites in tandem with the BCLS Mobile Library. 
  • Develop seasonal StoryWalk® displays and host events promoting new titles. 
  • Attend professional conferences, seminars, and committees; read professional literature; attend and participate in staff meetings. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS 
A master’s degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. Obtain a valid NJ license as a Professional Librarian within six (6) months of appointment. 

SCHEDULE 
Full time, 37.5 hours; evenings and weekends. 4 Sundays a year. Flexibility a must for outreach events.
