Title: Full-time Branch Manager, Librarian 3 - IGT ONLY

Salary: $58,271

DESCRIPTION: 

The Burlington County Library System seeks a library leader to manage the daily operations of a well-loved neighborhood branch. This hands-on position will manage staff, services, facilities, and programs, as well as work closely with local township officials and community organizations. Other responsibilities include: 

  • Lead and motivate staff in creating a customer-focused community hub. 
  • Create opportunities for learning for customers through reference and readers’ advisory services. 
  • Manage and oversee programs, outreach and events for children, teens, adults, and families that plant a love for libraries, reading, and information. • Work one-on-one with customers, demonstrating expertise with computers/technology. 
  • Expand professional knowledge by participating in system, county, and statewide initiatives. 
  • Represent the branch at public events and serve as a liaison with community groups and organizations. 
  • Work with management on system-wide initiatives. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional oral and written English communication skills including the ability to present effectively and speak before groups, organizations, and the public. 
  • Knowledge of trends in library services including technology, customer service, reference services, etc., and pursuit of ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain necessary skills. 
  • Skilled in collaborating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations, and the public. 
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices, management/supervisory principles as well as training, mentoring, and coaching techniques. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A master’s degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. 
  • One year of experience as a librarian is required, with preference given to individuals with demonstrated leadership responsibilities. 
  • Open as Intergovernmental Transfer for current Librarian 3 only. 

SCHEDULE: 

37.5 hours per week, including evenings and weekends; 4 Sundays per year.
