Reference/Technology Librarian
Franklin Township Public Library, Somerset
Franklin Township Public Library is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic full-time Reference/Technology librarian. The successful candidate will have responsibility for reference desk coverage, overseeing day-to-day and long-term administration of the library’s automation system, assisting with maintaining and updating the library’s website, instructing patrons and staff in computer and electronic applications, collection development of print and digital materials, and other duties as required. The candidate will work a regular weekly schedule at the reference desk, including one night each week (Thursday), and occasional weekend or evening hours as needed.
Requirements:
M.L.S./M.L.I.S. or equivalent from an A.L.A. accredited institution, a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate, and a valid New Jersey driver’s license (for attendance at off-site meetings, etc.). The ability to speak, read, write and understand English sufficiently to perform duties of the position. The ability to maintain positive relationship with the public and co-workers. Experience with Windows computer applications and working knowledge of electronic applications and services used in libraries is required. One year of professional experience in reference services is preferred but recent graduates with equivalent experience will be considered. A valid up-to-date COVID vaccination, including boosters, is required for this position.
