The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library of Washington Township in Sewell, NJ seeks a FT Senior Library Assistant: Order Clerk. Under general supervision of the Library Director, clerical tasks include the reconciliation of accounts, records, and documents in order to keep financial and other records complete.  Main responsibilities include shipping and receiving processes including ordering supplies and library materials, maintaining inventory lists, and processing receipt of deliveries.  Other tasks include obtaining prices for quotes and communicating with vendors, maintaining various spreadsheets, reconciling cash and check funds, and other duties as assigned.  

A high school diploma and two years of experience as a Library Assistant or equivalent clerical experience are both required.  The selected candidate must be able to operate a computer with proficiency and use Microsoft Office products and QuickBooks.  The ability to keep records of financial accounts is mandatory.  The person in this position must be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative to plan and organize tasks to reach goals. The ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to perform the tasks of this position is necessary. 

This is a full-time position of thirty-five hours per week with a daily standard work schedule of primarily daytime hours between 9 AM – 5 PM.  Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Paid time off includes vacation, personal, sick, bereavement, and holidays.

The salary for this position is $33,418 per year.  Benefits include NJ state health and dental insurance and a prescription plan.  Participation in the PERS pension system is mandatory. Other benefits include tuition discounts at select higher educational institutions and paid membership in the New Jersey Library Association.
