The North Bergen Free Public Library is looking for a full-time librarian to work as the head of our Kennedy Branch Library.  North Bergen is a diverse and active community of more than 60,000 residents from all walks of life.  The library is a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on programming.  There is room for growth within the position and we encourage creative thinking.

This is a full-time position.  Responsibilities include developing and running children’s and adult programs in conjunction with librarians at other branches, planning events, supervising a staff of 6 part-time workers, answering reference and reader’s advisory questions, marketing programs and databases, maintaining the library’s website, assisting public in using library technology, collaborating with the librarians at our other branches and being an active member of the librarian team, and aiding in the day-to-day running of the library.  This librarian may be called upon to work at any one of our three branches. Position may entail training at the Main Library before assuming role at the Branch.

Applicant must have an MLS and have at least 5 years of relevant experience.  Requirements include strong technology and organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.

BCCLS experience and supervisory experience a plus.  Bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants preferred.  Salary minimum of at least $60,000, and will scale with experience.  Generous benefits and vacation package included. Evenings and weekends on rotation required.
