The North Bergen Free Public Library is looking for a full-time librarian to work as the head of our circulation department. North Bergen is a diverse and active community of more than 60,000 residents from all walks of life. The library is a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on programming. There is room for growth within the position and we encourage creative thinking.
This is a full-time position. Responsibilities include managing the circulation desk, supervising 4 full-time and 10 part-time circulation staff members spread across three branches, training new circulation staff, answering patron questions, marketing programs and databases, assisting public in using library technology, trouble-shooting problems, enforcing library policies, and aiding in the day-to-day running of the library. This librarian will be expected to work with staff at all of our three branches.
Applicant must have an MLS and have at least 5 years of relevant experience, either in a library or as a supervisor in a customer service-related field. Requirements include strong technology and organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
BCCLS experience and supervisory experience a plus. Bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants preferred. Salary minimum of at least $60,000, and will scale with experience. Generous benefits and vacation package included. Evenings and weekends on rotation required.
