Full-Time Librarian 1 or Library Associate – Youth Services, Twin Rivers Branch, Mercer County Library System

Forums

Our small community branch in Twin Rivers is looking for a children’s librarian!

This position could be a perfect fit for a newly minted professional who loves working with kids from pre-K to teen.  Are you great at knowing just the right book for a child?  Do you enjoy coming up with creative and fun programs, along with traditional ones like story time?  Would you like to make a child’s day by helping them find resources for homework assignments?  Then this job is for you!

As a small library where we get to know our patrons by name, our supportive team works together to provide the best service possible to our community.

We are also part of the county library system, which gives our patrons access to a vastly larger collection, and gives our children’s librarians the opportunity to share information, discuss new ideas, and brainstorm together at regular meetings.

This position requires a master’s degree in library/information sciences (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution.  But if you are currently enrolled in an accredited graduate MLIS program, you could be considered for the library associate title.  A New Jersey Professional Librarian’s Certification is required for those who have attained the required master’s degree.

Please have prior experience working with children and/or coursework in youth services.

This title is affiliated with AFSCME 3566. Full-time employees are offered: Paid vacation/sick/personal days; 14 paid holidays; Enrollment into a comprehensive state health benefits program – including health, dental, prescription, and vision; Enrollment into the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS); Flexible spending account; Tuition reimbursement; Professional development opportunities; as well as other benefits to assist you during your tenure!

Mercer County residency required. Non-residents will be required to establish residency within one (1) year of employment. Candidates are required to undergo a background check, drug screen, and physical, and participate in the NJ PERS retirement plan.
