Full-Time Youth Services Librarian

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic librarian to join its youth services team. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, have outstanding communication skills, have experience designing and implementing creative programming, and possess the ability to answer a variety of reference and reader’s advisory questions with enthusiasm.

Duties include: • Providing reference, reader’s advisory and computer assistance to children, teens, young adults, and adults • Collection development, maintenance, and weeding for children’s and/or teen and young adult materials • Developing and implementing innovative programming ideas for children and teens, including volunteering opportunities for teens • Planning and presenting story times and devising and implementing remote components to complement in-person programs • Assisting with the planning and implementation of the summer reading programs • Creative design and maintenance of the Kid’s and Teen sections of the library’s website • Representing the Children’s Department in library-wide website renovation plans • Promoting children’s and teen programming through the creation of flyers, email blasts, and posters • Promoting the library on social media • Identifying and implementing new technologies and training other staff in the use of new technologies • Identifying grant opportunities, preparing grant applications, and implementing grantbased programming as appropriate • Creating statistical reports to assist with weeding and collection development • Creating and updating booklists for the Children’s, Teen, and Young Adult collections • Developing and implementing innovative programming and volunteering opportunities to engage teens in grades 6-12 • Maintaining an inviting atmosphere in the Young Adult Room, including creating displays, signage, and décor • Attending and participating in staff meeting discussions • Other duties as assigned

Hours: 35 hours per week including one to two evenings per week and some Saturdays.

Required qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.

Anticipated start date: September 7, 2021

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting. The position requires residency in the State of New Jersey. If the successful applicant is not a New Jersey resident, he or she must become a bona fide New Jersey resident within one year. Applicants from Moorestown will have first consideration.
