GRANT FUNDED PART TIME – DIGITAL ARCHIVES ASSISTANT

The Atlantic City Free Public Library (ACFPL) is seeking a Digital Archives Assistant who will digitize all of the African American Collections within the Atlantic City Heritage Collections. They will assist in the development and implementation of an electronic records repository. The Digital Archives Assistant will also assist the Archivist in various other projects. This position is a part-time position with an expected weekly schedule of 19 hours during weekday and/or weekend hours at $20.60 per hour for 11 months.  

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Digitization of photographs, documents, books, videos, and audio.
  • Participates in research activities based on archival materials.
  • May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be a current, degree-seeking college student or recent graduate
  • Interest in historical documents, demonstrated by research projects in classes or internships or other experience.
  • Ability to effectively use and demonstrate technology tools including the web, email, electronic databases, e-readers, office applications, as well as other library related programs; ability to learn and adapt to new technologies as required.
  • Interpersonal skills – ability to work and interact effectively with others in a positive manner, as well as work under pressure and/or manage stressful situations with courtesy and tact.
  • Customer service skills – ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers; exceptional oral and written English communications skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
