We’re Hiring – Head of Youth Services


The Fanwood Memorial Library has an exciting career opportunity for the right candidate.  Our brand new facility opens this year and we need an energetic, creative, self-motivated, and positive team player to lead our dynamic Youth Services Department. 

The ideal candidate has an ALA-accredited MLS and at least five years of experience in Children’s Services. Programming experience for children and teens is essential, as is knowledge of children’s literature and collection development. Excellent communication skills are required. Bilingual abilities a plus.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Promote early literacy and develop and maintain a well-rounded and diverse collection for children, tweens, and teens.
  • Conduct outreach services to local public and private schools, other local educational organizations, town departments, and at special events in the area.
  • Promote community awareness of Youth Services and facilities through outreach services, website, social media, and fliers.
  • Assist patrons with research, reading and other information requests. 

  • Provide Reading Advisory to children, teens, and parents.
  • Create attractive displays and exhibits.
  • Develop, promote, execute, and evaluate extensive youth programs and events.
  • Manage the budget assigned to Youth Services; Seek grants and other forms of outside funding.

The schedule is 35 hours per week and includes regular evening and weekend hours.
