Dowdell Library of South Amboy - Library Associate
JOB POSTING
The Dowdell Library is in search of a creative individual who will help lead the organization into a meaningful direction focused on the future. Energetic and self-motivated individuals with strong leadership, technology, and customer service skills are invited to apply.
Basic Responsibilities
- Contributes creative content to the library’s online presence.
- Assists in the development and execution of children’s/young adult programs and special events.
- Takes the initiative by identifying and assisting in implementing emerging technologies.
- Provides reader’s advisory to assist library patrons in selecting materials appropriate for their age group and interests
- Manages collection development/cataloging of children’s and young adult materials.
- Co-leads weekly elementary school library tours
- Integrates technological solutions to streamline procedures.
- Expands technology instruction for library patrons and staff.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment.
- Acts as in-charge person
Qualifications/Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and possess excellent communication, written, and technology skills. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with SirsiDynix cataloging is preferred. MLS candidates are welcome to apply.
Schedule:
Applicants must be available to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 12-5 pm for a total of 20 hours. The schedule includes one Saturday rotation per month and an occasional evening. Additional hours may be available.
Compensation:
Once permanent, the employee will be eligible for one week paid vacation. Sick leave and pension benefits available. Salary: $18/hour
