Principal Library Assistant – Youth Services
The Dowdell Library supports the community by promoting lifelong learning and seeks an energetic and self-motivated individual with strong customer service and technology skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and co-leads youth services programs (virtually and in-person)
- Contributes content to the library’s online presence
- Implements initiatives to expand youth services
- Co-leads weekly elementary school library tours
- Conducts outreach efforts and enthusiastically advocates programs
- Provides friendly reader’s advisory for children and teens
- Creatively markets the youth services collection
- Takes the initiative by identifying, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies; integrates technological solutions to streamline procedures
- Works collaboratively in a team environment
- Supervises volunteers
- Maintains accurate statistical records
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements: Candidates must have a high school diploma; some college preferred. They must possess excellent communication, written, and technology skills and be customer-focused. Knowledge of SirsiDynix Workflows and experience conducting creative virtual programs a plus.
Schedule: Applicants must be available to work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a total of 20 hours. The schedule includes one Saturday rotation per month and an occasional evening.
Compensation: Once permanent, the employee will be eligible for one week paid vacation. Sick leave and pension benefits available. Salary: $14.90/hour
