Kate Kelly, attorney, activist, and author discusses her book Ordinary Equality 3/4 @2pm at Ocean County Library, Toms River

I am writing to let you know about an upcoming program that may be of interest to you and your patrons.

Kate Kelly, attorney, activist, and author of Ordinary Equality: The Fearless Women and Queer People Who Shaped the U.S. Constitution and the Equal Rights Amendment, will appear at the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library on Saturday, March 4th at 2:00pm. Following her talk, there will be a question-and-answer session and a book signing.

Summary: In her book, Ordinary Equality, Kate tells the story of women and queer people who have helped shape the foundations of American democracy. Through the fascinating and often-overlooked lives of more than a dozen key players, including Abigail Adams, Phillis Wheatley, Alice Paul, Pauli Murray, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Barbara Jordan, Kate examines how and why constitutional equality for all marginalized genders has been systematically undermined for over two centuries.

About Kate Kelly: A feminist, activist, and human rights lawyer, Kate is a nationally known advocate for the ratification of the ERA and host and creator of the podcast Ordinary Equality. Kate lives in Washington, DC, with her partner, Jamie Manson.
