DESCRIPTION
The Children’s Services Department at the Burlington County Library seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic librarian to join its team. The individual must exhibit strong communication skills, a desire to do community outreach and provide services to children, teens, caregivers and educators. Other examples of duties:
- Provide outstanding customer service, reference, and readers’ advisory to all library customers.
- Work with system-wide staff as it relates to school outreach services and engage with them to effectively communicate our programs and services.
- Design and implement creative youth programming to facilitate a love of reading and learning including story times for children ages birth-six years as well as crafts and other activities for children of all ages.
- Participate in professional conferences, seminars, and committees; read professional literature; attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned; occasional travel to schools, community touch-points, and branch libraries will be a part of the job.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: A master’s degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.
SCHEDULE
Full time, 37.5 hours; evenings and weekends including 4 Sundays per year. Flexibility a must for partner and school outreach.
