Salary:                    $24.7672 per hour ($45,076.30 annually-Librarian 1)
                                $26.0049 per hour ($47,328.92 annually-Librarian 2)

Schedule:              35 hours/week, Monday through Friday, generally 9:00-5:00, schedule may vary based on office needs

The Camden County Library is seeking Is seeking a collaborative team member who can work with staff at all branches to develop and maintain collections that meet the Library’s mission and goals.

 

Under the direction of the Head of Technical Services, the person in this position will perform such functions as, but not limited to:

 

  • Assist the Head of Technical Services with collection development for an eight-branch library system
  • Oversee children’s and YA material selection and ordering
  • Develop collections that are diverse and represent all points of view
  • Compile and share information about new acquisitions with librarians to use when developing programs and displays
  • Monitor hold lists, bestseller lists and local interest materials and make recommendations for adult print and AV purchasing.
  • Oversee the weeding and deselection process.
  • Work with librarians for program giveaway orders; prepare invoices for the Business Office.
  • Help to promote the library’s collections, print and digital.
  • Review and coordinate standing order purchases.
  • Work with the department head to improve workflow and evaluate new cataloging systems.
  • Serve as working leader in the Technical Services Department
  • Attend various library meetings as required
  • Travel to other library branches as required
  • Knowledge of original and copy cataloging and Koha is a plus

Requirements/Education:
Education/Certification/Experience/ Requirements:

A Master's degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master' program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. 

Possession of a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate issued by Thomas Edison College or the credentials and willingness to obtain a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate upon hiring.   Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Librarian 2 requires: One year of full time equivalent professional librarian experience as well as the requirements listed above
