The Trenton Free Public Library is seeking a full-time Youth Services Librarian.
Open to residents of New Jersey
NOTE: Competitive title, provisional appointment, pending the results of a Civil Service announcement.
Under supervision, provides a variety of library services in one or
more functional areas of the library requiring substantial professional
knowledge of and experience with librarianship theories, principles
and practices; may take the lead and coordinate work assignments
of Librarians 1, and/or paraprofessional/ technical staff; performs
related duties as required.
DUTIES:
- Evaluates needs of community and identifies opportunities for new and enhanced programs, services and collections targeted towards children and families
- Responsible for programming for children and families including planning, preparation, budgeting, scheduling, implantation and assessment
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
A Master's degree in Library or Information Science in a library
program accredited by the American Library Association or from
a New Jersey college Master's program in Library Science that
has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of library experience including work in the service,
circulation, reference areas, children’s and youth services.
LICENSE:
Appointees must possess a valid license as a Professional Librarian issued by Thomas Edison State College. Proof od license must be submitted to the appointing authority prior to provisional appointment. Failure to do so will result in rejection from the examination process.
NOTE:Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in
New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee
mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
COMPENSATION: Salary range is $70,639 - $82,794. Benefits include health benefits, paid sick, personal, and vacation days.
