Library Associate/Librarian 1 - Assistant ILS Administrator

Part Time: 21 Hours per week

Compensation:  $19.24/$24.75 per hour minimum

The Gloucester County Library System is seeking an energetic and team-oriented Assistant ILS Administrator in the Automation Department.  Under the supervision of the Head of Automation, this individual is responsible for assisting with the administration of the ILS and its related applications as well as maintaining the library website.  The Assistant ILS Administrator will also provide support for issues relating to the ILS, self-check machines, and telemessaging server to resolve problems and training staff on these as needed.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Assist in administering and managing the library-specific information technology infrastructure including the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS, BLUEcloud application suite, telemessaging server, self-check machines, and library website.

Assist resolving support tickets for staff and coordinate with vendors as needed to provide additional support.

Collaborate with staff and provide assistance and training with the ILS and related applications.

Collect statistics for the eCollections, website, and self-check machines.

Assist in the creation of and maintenance of reports, holds processes, item records, etc.

Create and maintain technical documentation for ILS procedures.

Investigate cutting edge technologies and make recommendations to the Head of Automation.

Handle checking the system logs for the nightly reports.

Assist in maintaining and updating the library website as needed.

Attend professional conferences and webinars as time and budget permits.

Participate in work groups, committees, staff meetings, etc.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Skills:

Demonstrates experience and knowledge of current library practices as well as current technological developments in libraries.

Demonstrates knowledge of technical skills and ability to effectively troubleshoot technical problems and implement solutions.

Ability to develop working relations with staff of all levels and be able to teach technical topics to non-technical staff.

Ability or organize and prioritize a variety of projects and complete tasks in a timely and effective manner.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience with SirsiDynix Symphony ILS administration and library discovery systems is highly desirable.

Knowledge of web development and database management is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will have the ability to accurately perform a considerable volume of duties, and to handle multiple activities and a variety of assignments.  The successful candidate will have excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to creatively resolve problems when necessary.

Job duties require the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and sufficient visual discrimination to be able to read spine labels. The position may require travel between GCLS Branch libraries. A valid NJ Driver's License is required.

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check.

The position requires residency in the State of New Jersey.  If the successful applicant is not a New Jersey resident, they must become a bona fide New Jersey resident within one year. Applications from qualified resident of Gloucester County, NJ will have first consideration.
