Library Associate/Technology Instruction Program

Mercer County Library System is seeking to fill an anticipated full-time, 35 hour per week position in the title of Library Associate as an Assistant Technology Instructor in the Information Technology Department. This full-time position requires one evening per week and one Saturday or Sunday per month.

Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to be part of a team environment, and be comfortable working with the general public in a supportive and learning environment. Computer proficiency is required, specifically the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) with intermediate to advanced general computer skills.  A successful candidate will also be able to effectively and confidently present information and respond to questions in a real-time environment.  The ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support is also required.

While not required, experience teaching or mentoring adult learners; familiarity with library digital resources and website/social media; and Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred and highly desired.

Duties consist of, but are not limited to: teaching technology classes to adult patrons and staff; conducting one-on-one technology sessions with patrons who need help learning how to use a device or software; working with the technology instructor to identify new class ideas and staff professional development opportunities; filing and maintaining up-to-date handouts for classes; maintaining statistics related to the technology instruction program; creating and distributing a monthly print calendar of scheduled classes; posting class descriptions to the library’s online calendar software; working with members of the Information Technology Department to update the technology instruction section of the library website; and other projects and assignments as needed.

This position is anticipated to be full-time and requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree. Students enrolled in an MLS / MLIS program are encouraged to apply. The salary range for this is $35,178 to $46,159.
