The Tinton Falls Public Library, a Member Library of the Monmouth County Library (MCL) system, in Tinton Falls, NJ seeks a full-time Library Director to lead our staff and engage our growing community after a long-term closure.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct daily library operations and manage staff and volunteers.
- Develop and coordinate innovative and engaging programs for adults and children.
- Promote library via social media, (WIX-based) website, and in-person events.
- Develop and expand collection with input from MCL.
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with Borough, school, and community organizations.
- Communicate effectively with staff and patrons.
- Report to the Library Board at its monthly meetings (according to the Board’s current schedule).
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library science (or equivalent) from American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution preferred, but not required
- 3 to 5 years of work experience in a public or academic library
- 1 to 2 years supervisory experience preferred, but not required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong technology and social media skills (Windows environment)
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to repetitively bend and lift up to 25 lbs.
Schedule: Salaried position (37.5 – 40 hours) including days, evenings, and Saturday hours. This position may include provisions to work remotely up to 8 hours/week. Specific schedule to be determined with Board approval as the Library is reopening after a long-term closure.
Compensation: $50-60,000 commensurate with experience. Salary negotiable if benefits needed.
