Museum Assistant PT – Avalon Free Public Library History Center

Anticipated schedule: Wednesday 11-3, Thursday 10-3, Friday 10-3, Saturday 10-3. Schedule may shift occasionally to support coverage needs.

The Avalon History Center is seeking a year-round part-time museum assistant to welcome visitors and share exhibit details, as well as support the Curator and Digital Collections Coordinator with ongoing projects and initiatives, including exhibit interpretation, and collection maintenance. Must have strong communication skills and enjoy dealing with the public. Proficiency with computers required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old with an interest in history, have at least one (1) year customer service experience, and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated interest in local history, prior museum and/or clerical experience, and a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

Hourly rate of $17.50/hour meets NJLA recommendations for a Library Assistant. Schedule may include the occasional evening or weekend shift to support community outreach. Employment offers are conditional upon a successful background and reference check and include a probationary period.
