CHILDREN’S LIBRARIAN • 28 hours per week

The Maplewood Memorial Library seeks an innovative, dynamic, and forward thinking librarian or library student to serve as part of the Hilton Branch Library team.
Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Manager of the Branch Library and Head of Children’s Services:
- Provide reference, reader’s advisory and technology instruction.
- Select and maintain the juvenile collections
- Create innovative programs for children ages birth – 5th grade and families to build literacy and the love of reading including storytimes, STEM programming, summer reading events and other programs both in the library and throughout the community
- Build partnerships with schools and community organizations to expand literacy programs and resources
- Stay current in public library matters through professional development and involvement in professional organizations
- Collaborate with Teen Services and Adult Services for multi-age, multi-generational programming
- Perform related duties as required
- Includes working one evening per week and one Saturday in four; pro-rated vacation, personal time, sick-time and comp-time. Maplewood’s covid vaccination policy requires proof of vaccination.
Qualifications:
- ALA accredited MLIS and NJ Professional Librarian Certification. We will consider a qualified MLIS candidate at a pro-rated salary.
- Knowledge of children’s materials and resources
- Excellent customer service skills
- Organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with and enthusiasm for current technologies
2022 Salary Ranges:
Librarian at 28 hours/week: $44,078.38 - $45,719.06
Senior librarian at 28 hours/week: $47,476.66 - $58,966.06
