Part-Time Evening and Weekend Youth Services Librarian

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic librarian to join its youth services team. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, have outstanding communication skills, have experience designing and implementing creative programming, and possess the ability to answer a variety of reference and reader’s advisory questions with enthusiasm.

Responsible for:

  • Providing reference, reader’s advisory and computer assistance to children, teens, young adults, and adults
  • Maintaining a tidy and welcoming environment in the Youth Services Area
  • Set-up and clean-up of youth services programming
  • Assisting with merchandising and weeding the Children’s, Teen, and Young Adult collections
  • Helping to develop programming ideas for youth from preschool through high school

Hours:  Wednesday and Thursday evenings (4-8 pm or 5-9 pm) and 1-2 Saturdays per month (9 am – 5 pm). Additional hours up to 24 per week are available during the summer months.

Required qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.  MLS students considered.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.

The position requires residency in the State of New Jersey. If the successful applicant is not a New Jersey resident, he or she must become a bona fide New Jersey resident within one year. Applicants from Moorestown will have first consideration.
