Part-Time Library Assistant, Bogota Public Library

The Bogota Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant to cover 15 hours per week. 

 

Duties

  • Handling circulation of all materials: checking items in an out, filling item holds, unpacking deliveries of items, etc. 
  • Handling basic reference/technology questions
  • Providing excellent customer service via in-person interactions, phone calls, and email
  • Processing of new materials as needed
  • Maintaining the library’s appearance, including shelving, tidying, assisting with book displays, etc. 
  • Assisting with Library programming as needed
  • Helping with closing procedures of the library

 

In addition to Library Assistant duties, the Bogota Public Library is a very busy Passport Acceptance Facility, and the person hired will be required to become a Passport Acceptance Agent. Training will be provided. 

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google products
  • Familiarity with digital downloads and mobile devices.
  • Thorough knowledge of office procedures and aptitude for clerical and detail work.
  • Cultivates a warm and welcoming attitude to patrons, and is responsive to their needs.
  • Ability to communicate well in-person and on paper.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
  • Customer service experience, particularly in libraries, a plus

Schedule

Mondays 3-8pm, Wednesdays 3-8pm, and Fridays 12-5pm. Pay will be $16/hour. 

 

Requirements

Completion of a high school diploma or higher.
