Title: PT Youth Services Library Associate                  Salary: $20-$23 per hour

The Mount Laurel Library is seeking its newest team member, to provide support and assistance in the Youth Services Department. You will be helping us continue our mission of creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for library users by providing programming, readers’ advisory, and resources of interest to the children, teens, and families of Mount Laurel. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Youth Services Librarians with weekly story times and other programs by preparing materials, crafts, and other content as needed. 
  • Assist with teen volunteer initiatives.
  • Provide readers’ advisory to children, teens, and families.
  • Participate in maintenance and development of the library’s collection.
  • Continually create new and engaging displays.
  • Take pride in the library and ensure that it is clean, tidy, and inviting.
  • Answer questions and provide information assistance at the Information Desk including assistance with the use of computers, software, fax machine, scanners, photocopiers, and accessing the library’s collection.
  • Promote library services via outreach events as needed.
  • Become familiar with and comfortable using equipment in the library’s Maker Space.
  • Participate in professional training and continuing education opportunities to stay informed about library, information, and technology trends.
  • Maintain awareness of the safety and security of staff and public. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with and enthusiasm for working with children, teens, and families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of youth literature. 
  • Demonstrated technology literacy.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with customer service experience, library experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work with reasonable accommodation in a shared work area, to stand, bend, kneel, and move around frequently, and to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Applicant must comply with the “New Jersey First Act”.

SCHEDULE

20 hours per week including 1 evening and every other Sunday.
