Annual Salary:$83,100 / 37.5 hours per week.
Schedule: Since the library is open days and evenings, schedules may vary; including

Responsibilities:
Management of Somerset County Library System Technical Services functions; serves as a member of the SCLSNJ Management Team. Directly supervises department staff, including subordinate
supervisors; oversee the system-wide acquisitions, cataloging, and processing of library materials. Performs duties under the guidance of the Manager of Operations working closely with the Automation and
Collection Development departments. The Technical Services Manager is expected to stay up-to-date with public library trends by regularly reading professional journals, attending training and
conferences, etc., and maintaining expertise in current standard cataloging practices.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the Technical Services department; Coordinating system-wide activities related to technical services; Engaging in SCLSNJ management
process and other professional activities
Minimum Qualifications:
NJ Librarian’s certificate required; MLS/MLIS; Five years of full-time progressively responsible professional librarian experience which includes demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills and three
years experience supervising staff and budget oversight or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities; reliable transportation to
attend training, meetings, or other assigned duties at other branches or off-site locations as required.
Physical Demands:
Reading materials and providing verbal assistance to library users in English; manual dexterity to handle books, software, and a variety of other media formats; intermittent sitting, standing, and walking;
ability to perform the essential functions of this position; occasional bending, reaching, and stooping; lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 lbs.; pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 100 lbs.;
distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes; distance vision sufficient to distinguish people or objects under a variety of light conditions; vision sufficient to view computer screens and spine
labels under a variety of light conditions.
