Title: Full-time Emerging Technology Librarian 1 

Salary: $55,565

DESCRIPTION: 

The Burlington County Library seeks an enthusiastic, service-oriented, and self-motivated librarian to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service ethos and demonstrate knowledge of print and online resources, readers’ advisory, and solid technology skills. The individual must also exhibit strong communication skills and a desire to expand library services and technology offerings to the community. 

Responsibilities: 

• Provides reference and readers’ advisory service; assist with collection development. 

• Develops and implements a suite of technology programs to expand digital fluency and learning capabilities. 

• Designs learning activities, story boards, and online content using audio, visual, web as well as virtual and augmented reality tools and devices. 

• Assists with special projects such as digital exhibits to expand the community’s access to local history and other curated content. 

• Maintains an awareness of best practices and keep informed of current trends and issues in technology and librarianship in order to implement series and programming to meet community needs. 

• Expands professional knowledge by participating in system, county, and statewide initiatives and committees. 

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to translate new and emerging technologies into services that align with the library’s mission. 

• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. 

• Interpersonal, analytic, and project management skills including the ability to collaborate across departments. 

• Ability to set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and train others in non-traditional and emerging technologies. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

A master’s degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. Obtain a valid NJ license as a Professional Librarian within six (6) months of appointment. 

Students completing graduate school in Spring 2023 are encouraged to apply. Candidates who do not have a master's degree and valid certification as a Professional LIbrarian at the time of offer will be placed in the title of Library Associate at a salary of $48,794 until all credentials are in place.

SCHEDULE:

37.5 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, and reference desk shifts.
