The Montville Township Public Library, located in Morris County, is seeking an innovative, creative, and energetic candidate for the position of Young Adult Librarian. Our busy Library is located in a growing diverse suburban community of 22,000 and is a part of the MAIN consortium of 49 area libraries.

The Young Adult Librarian will:

  • Provide services and programming for young adults (grades 6-12).
  • Work with community organizations and our active Teen Advisory Board to create and market engaging programs for teens as well as cultural events for the community at large.
  • Provide courteous service to the public in the form of reference, reader’s advisory, and circulation.
  • Develop and maintain our Young Adult and World Language collections.
  • Coordinate our English Language Learning classes, which are taught by a certified instructor.  

The successful candidate should be able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, patrons, community organizations, and volunteer groups, and serve the public courteously. The successful candidate will stay current with emerging technology and library trends. Knowledge of Polaris/LEAP library automation is a plus. 

Qualifications include an MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution and ability to obtain a NJ Professional Librarian’s Certification.

This is an exempt 37.5 hour per week position and includes a regular weekly evening shift and a Saturday rotation. MTPL is covered under Civil Service.

The salary range for this position is $51,000-$55,000 depending on experience. Benefits include health coverage and paid time off. Membership in the NJPERS pension plan is required. This position provides opportunities for professional development and membership in professional associations.
