Librarian III - $54,700
Librarian IV - $47,600
Library Intern - $42,400 (non-union)
37.5 hours per week for all positions.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing direct patron service at the Youth Services desk including reference and readers’ advisory; planning, promoting, and implementing children’s,
tween, and teen library programs that encourage library usage and support the goals of the SCLSNJ Strategic Plan, community needs, and changes in technology and trends in library services; managing
branch materials in an assigned subject area(s) according to the SCLSNJ Collection Management Plan; performing outreach services; performing other library-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or branch manager.

Minimum Qualifications: 
NJ Librarian’s certificate required; MLS (ALA accredited program desirable); minimum of one year of professional librarian experience; coursework and/or training in adult, youth, or teen services and print
and electronic resources; less than one year of professional librarian experience is considered Librarian IV; reliable transportation to attend training, meetings, or other assigned duties at other branches or off-site locations as required.
❖ Applicants who do not possess a minimum of one year’s professional librarian experience, as stated above, will be considered as Librarian IV (Grade K) candidates.
❖ Students enrolled in an MLS program who have completed 18 credits may apply for the position of a Library Intern. 

Eligible candidates should be actively enrolled in an MLS program.
If you are applying for a Librarian III/IV job position, you must submit your MLS/MLIS Certificate AND your New Jersey Librarian’s Certificate

Library Intern job position applicants must submit their transcript to show they are enrolled in the program and have the required 18+ credits. (Recent graduates or Out-of-state candidates who do not have the NJ Librarian’s Certificate yet, will need to be able to provide it as soon as possible.)

Physical Demands:
Reading materials and providing verbal assistance to library users in English; manual dexterity to handle books, software, and a variety of other media formats; intermittent sitting, standing, and walking; ability to perform the essential functions of this position in areas of the building that are only accessible by using stairs; occasional bending, reaching, and stooping; lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 lbs.; pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 100 lbs.;
distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes; distance vision sufficient to distinguish people or objects under a variety of light conditions; vision sufficient to view computer screens and spine labels under a variety of light conditions.
