Title: Youth Services Librarian FT                   Salary: $45,045

The Mount Laurel Library is looking for an enthusiastic and creative librarian to join our Youth Services team. The ideal candidate will:

  • Welcome and serve all customers of  the Mount Laurel Library
  • Plan and present early literacy programming for children ages birth to five years old
  • Plan and present or assist with programs for all ages including Makerspace programs
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the Information Services team
  • Provide reference and readers’ advisory services for patrons of all ages
  • Assist patrons with research, web searching, and computer software
  • Provide technology instruction and trouble shooting
  • Regularly staff the information desk.
  • Participate in collection development
  • Keep current with trends in technology and social media and ways to apply them
  • Readily undertake other duties as necessary, including (but not limited to) outreach efforts to local schools, daycare centers, community events, etc.
  • May be Person in Charge

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: A Master’s degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by ALA or from a New Jersey Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.
  • We will also consider current MLS students nearing the completion of their graduate degree from an accredited school, with title and salary adjusted accordingly.
  • License: Obtain a valid NJ License as a Professional Librarian within three (3) months of appointment.
  • Applicant must comply with the “New Jersey First Act”

SCHEDULE

35 hours per week. One to two nights per week and every other weekend required.
