Overview: Looking for the perfect opportunity to work with kids in a beautiful library and for a fantastic community? The Mount Olive Public Library is look for a new, tech-savvy Youth Services Librarian to join our team. We are seeking a friendly and upbeat librarian, who has experience with working with kids and teens of all ages.

Community Outreach and Services:

  • Assist with Youth Programming: Design programming that revolves around new STEM technologies and the latest trends. From pop culture anime clubs to gaming, the best candidate will throw ideas against the wall until something sticks.
  • Promote Digital Platforms: The library world continues to go digital. Applicants should be able to explain how to use our different e-platforms and meet the needs for those already tech savvy.
  • Manage Social Media Accounts: Potential staffers should be able to actively promote the library’s resources and events on multiple social media platforms. Excellent candidates will be proficient in Canva or other design software that enables them to create dynamic promotional ads.
  • Update the Website: Experience working with WordPress based sites to add events and update information, would be preferred.  

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with collection development for the Children’s and Teen departments.
  • Using an extensive knowledge of Children’s and YA literature, provide reader advisory services to young patrons and their parents.
  • Assist with Reference staff duties as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the department head or director.

Education: MLS required. Students currently enrolled in an MLS program will be considered

Hours and Compensation:

  • Two weekdays and one weeknight,
  • 22 hours total, including at least one Saturday per month
  • $24 to $27 per hour based on experience
