The Washington Township Public Library (Morris) seeks a dynamic, customer-service oriented, creative individual who thrives in a collaborative environment to fill an upcoming vacancy in our active Youth Services Department.  

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Collaborate with the Youth Services Librarian to design, organize and present programs for young adults.
  • Adopt a community engagement mindset and maintain effective relationships with schools and community groups in order to plan and deliver programs and services that meet the needs of teens.
  • Employ various strategies and methods to market programs to a broad audience using digital, print and social media.
  • Participate in collection development for this age group which includes purchasing, weeding and maintaining the collection.
  • Oversees our teen volunteer program, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and communications.
  • Maintain social media and online media presence for the Teens.
  • Assist in overall operation of the children’s and teen/young adult area.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications include an MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution and an ability to obtain a NJ Professional Librarian Certification.  We will also consider enrollment in an ALA accredited MLIS program.  Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with community organizations, the public and the staff.  Experience with the Polaris ILS system is a plus.

This position will be available mid-December.  The schedule includes a rotation of day, evening and weekend hours.  The position is 20 hours per week.  The salary is $31.84 per hour and includes vacation and PTO.
