Job Opening: Full-time Teen Services Librarian, Maplewood Memorial Library
Maplewood Library seeks an innovative and energetic librarian with a strong commitment to teen services to meet the needs of our diverse community. This person will report to the Library Director, and work closely with Maplewood’s middle and high schools.
Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Library Director:
- Provides teen services in the library and schools for young adults between the ages of 12 and 18, including reader’s advisory and technology instruction
- Initiates, plans, and conducts teen programs and activities in the library and schools
- Collaborates with the adult and youth services departments in the planning and implementation of the summer reading program
- Has overall responsibility of the teen area, including appearance and layout
- Oversees collection development and collection maintenance
- Builds partnerships with community organizations to strengthen teen services throughout the community
- Seeks grant opportunities and other avenues of supplemental funding
- Stays current in public library matters through professional development and involvement in professional organizations
- Works night and weekend hours
- Performs related duties as required
Qualifications:
- ALA accredited MLS and NJ Professional Librarian Certification, or pending completion
- Knowledge of teen materials and resources, including technologies
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Mature judgment
- Assertive initiative
2023 Salary Range
Librarian $56,337.68 - $58,434.67
Senior Librarian $60,681.11 - $75,365.99
