The Monroe Township Public Library is a vibrant, well-used facility providing a high level of service to all community residents. High quality community engagement is an essential component of the Library’s work.

The Monroe Township Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated and team-oriented candidate for Technology Support and Training Specialist. This full-time position reports to the Assistant Director and will work closely with all Library departments. 

Responsibilities:

  • Technology Support
    • Assists in developing technology plans for the Library and recommends updates.
    • Participates in developing a technology-based annual budget for the Library.
    • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems and performs routine hardware testing, maintenance and repair. Makes suggestions for new equipment and software.
    • Manages the Library’s networks and servers.
    • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of the Library’s technologies, databases and applications.
    • Oversees and updates the Library’s website CMS (WordPress).
    • Coordinates the work of outside technology-related contractors in the installation, configuration, and repair of computers, peripherals and network equipment.
    • Retains appropriate records related to software licenses, warranties, network configurations, performance and condition.
  • Technology Training
    • Develops and provides training/classes/demos of Library technologies, databases and applications. 
    • Conducts one on one training sessions for staff and patrons.
    • Identifies methods of training staff in the use of various technologies.
    • Creates quick reference guides for Library technologies, databases and applications for use by staff and patrons.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or certification in a computer science or technology related field and/or minimum two (2) years’ experience working with technology and electronic services or relevant experience in computer network operations, maintenance and repair.

  • Experience in developing curriculum in digital literacy.

Hours for this position are Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. However, evenings and weekends may be necessary for specific projects.

Starting Salary: $56,000
