Montclair Public Library is looking for a full-time Programming Assistant in our Adult School Department to perform a variety of tasks requiring specialized knowledge of and skill in education, outreach and logistics service under the supervision of the Head of the Adult School Department.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The examples of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the individuals in this position, rather than an exhaustive list.

  • Assist with curriculum development, student registration and classroom setup.
  • Assist in the production of our seasonal brochures.
  • Enter course data into online catalog and shared calendar platforms.
  • Coordinate with instructors, site hosts and library personnel to create effective learning spaces.
  • Draft accurate and clear email correspondence to students and instructors when needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge about or willingness to learn all aspects of Adult School operations including Google Workspace, custom registration systems, etc.
  • Welcoming behaviors including friendliness, cooperation, creativity, patience and enthusiasm.
  • Work harmoniously with co-workers and a diverse and varied clientele.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment.
  • Excellent customer service and ability to calmly resolve conflicts.
  • Willingness to help with online classes and some minor design tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited college, university or technical school.
  • Two years experience in public relations or event planning may be substituted for formal education.

  • Mostly weekdays, some evenings and weekends.

SALARY

  • $31,606
