We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve as a School Library Consortium Coordinator. The coordinator will be responsible for managing yearly subscriptions, planning professional development opportunities, and overseeing finances for a school library consortium, staying up-to-date on current library and school trends and maintaining professional relationships with vendors. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, experience in library management or education, and a passion for supporting the educational needs of students.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in education, or a related field, and/or Master’s degree in library science
- Experience in library management, with a strong understanding of library operations and best practices.
- Located within Northern NJ
Responsibilities:
- Manage yearly subscriptions for the school library consortium, including negotiating prices, purchasing materials, and ensuring timely delivery to member schools.
- Plan and organize professional development opportunities for member school librarians, including workshops, conferences, and online resources.
- Oversee the finances of the consortium, including budgeting, invoicing, and record-keeping.
- Collaborate with member school librarians and administrators to identify and address their educational needs, and to develop strategies for improving library services.
- Serve as a liaison between the consortium and other organizations, including professional associations, publishers, and vendors.
- Collect and analyze data on library usage and performance, and use this information to make data-driven decisions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other library consortiums and organizations to share resources and best practices.
- Maintain consortium website and update accordingly
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience in financial management, including budgeting, invoicing, and record-keeping. Experience in Quickbooks or similar software.
- Familiarity with educational technology and online resources.
- A passion for supporting the educational needs of students, and a commitment to promoting the value of libraries in education.
- Proficient in Google/ Google Applications for Schools
- Ability to effectively communicate and foster a cooperative work environment.
- Ability to plan, organize and oversee the operations of a specialized library service or area.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Skill in the use of relevant database and/or integrated library systems; knowledge of Follett Destiny is a plus
- Knowledge of library principles, practices, and terminology.
- Ability to make complex operating, and procedural decisions.
- Project management skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
- Maintains professional knowledge base and skills through continued education and/or research.
Time and Salary:
- This is a part time position that runs 11 months a year from mid August to mid July
- The position is 25 hours per week at $25 per hour; Monday through Friday.
- The applicant must be available during school hours, with the possibility of additional hours to attend professional development events and meetings.
- The School Library Consortium Coordinator will report to the consortium executive board.
- Coordinator schedule will follow school closures
