Closing for inclement weather

Hi everyone,

I am looking for examples of municipal libraries' policies of closing due to inclement weather.

I honestly hate making this decision, and my Board prez and I talked it over last week. She suggested that we should close based on what the schools do.  This sounds reasonable to me, except we have two school districts in town (so for instance, the elementary/middle school district decided to close by 7 pm Thursday evening in anticipation of last Friday's storm, but the high school district didn't make a decision til Friday morning.)

Do you make the decision on your own? Do you follow what the schools do? Do you plan to close if the gov declares a state of emergency ahead of a predicted storm?

Is there anything in your policy that makes this decision any easier for you?   (Is there anything you would want to ADD to your policy to make it easier for you?)

Now that COVID has made working from home an option, do you expect your employees to work from home if possible? Ah, 100% connectivity all the time -- what a way to ruin a perfectly good snow day. :)  )

If your library has a decent inclement weather policy, and/or if you've updated it in the last 5 or 10 years, would you consider sharing it with me so I can CASE (copy and steal) your ideas instead of reinventing the wheel? And I always welcome any advice and/or war stories you'd care to share.

Many thanks,
