Historical and Cultural Context of the War in Ukraine

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been at least as much about history as about geopolitics. This war doesn't just have historical causes; it is a war about the historical narrative itself—one that goes back many centuries. This talk will present an introduction to this history, along with an overview of Ukraine's diverse cultural and linguistic landscape.

Michael Andrec has been the archivist at the Ukrainian History and Education Center in Somerset since 2010. Born in the United States but having learned Ukrainian as a first language, he is well-positioned to preserve, describe, and provide researcher access to the primarily non-English collections at the UHEC archives. He also coordinates much of the UHEC's humanities-related content and programming, mainly in the areas of history and genealogy.

Event Sponsored by MARAC NJ Caucus, NJLA History and Preservation Section, and NJLA Colleges and Universities Section.

I work at a public library, and several of my colleagues would like to attend this webinar today but are unable to, due to work obligations.  Will this be recorded, and if so, where and when will the recording be accessible?

Thank you,

Unfortunately, the talk is not going to be recorded.  Michael Andrec (m.andrec [at] ukrhec.org) at the Ukrainian History and Education Center of NJ has been giving a decent amount of talks lately.  I wonder if he could let you know if there will be another talk or maybe be available to come to your library.
