Hourly Facilities and Security Position - Montclair Public Library

Responsible for maintaining libraries facilities and assuring the safety of everyone in the Library under the direction of the Facilities and Security Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The examples of duties and responsibilities below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by individuals in this position, rather than an extensive list.

  • Make deliveries to post office, branch, patrons and other locations as directed.
  • Conduct regular review of library buildings to ensure safety.
  • Set up rooms and move furniture, as directed.
  • Clean and dispose of materials to keep library space safe.
  • Assist with snow removal and making walkways safe. Availability will at times be needed outside of regular hours.
  • Resolve issues with patrons.
  • Other duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to calmly resolve conflicts
  • Knowledge about security, fire and building maintenance and repairs
  • Work harmoniously with co-workers and a diverse and varied clientele.
  • Ability to undertake repairs and maintain equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in facilities management or security.
  • High school diploma.
  • A valid NJ driver’s license.

SALARY: $17.00 per hour with up to 20 hours per week with additional hours as needed.

SCHEDULE: Some daytime, evening, and weekend hours required.
