NJLA and LibraryLinkNJ have partnered once again to support New Jersey libraries in navigating the transition in materials acquisition following Baker & Taylor’s ceased operation announcement in October 2025. While this information does not constitute legal or operational advice and may evolve rapidly, this page offers the latest updates compiled by NJLA, along with demo sessions from various distributors that we are co-sponsoring. Our shared goal is to help libraries establish new workflows and continue providing the materials their communities want to read.

Amazon Books for Libraries (included for free with NJLA Enhanced Institutional Membership) is enhancing MARC records by the end of 2025 with BISAC subject headings, audience information, and 9XX tags. They are also working with the Library of Congress to add LC subject headings. Another important tool for libraries: Amazon’s “Business Analytics” page for tracking backorders and shipments. If you use the default “Order Summaries,” you will see your orders divided by fulfillment center (Amazon warehouse); the Business Analytics page provides a more practical overview for the status of your orders. (login required) can be sorted by title or expected delivery date (street date and author are not yet options). Please let us know if you have any feedback to share as Amazon continues to develop this new service for libraries. [ Updated: October 31, 2025] |

| Brodart offers collection development services to libraries. They are creating new order accounts, and offers complimentary standing order programs. They are experiencing delays in setting up libraries due to volume, and new library customers must sign up for cataloging or processing as part of account initiation. Brodart is also creating new McNaughton leasing accounts, which has children’s, teen, and adult options. At the current moment, Brodart is not taking on any libraries with book budgets under 150k until Q1 of 2026, and is no longer taking on books-only accounts.
